Worst Christmas Songs Ever

This is going to be my last post until after the holidays. I have so much to do in the coming week, then I need to do Christmas shopping in the five days I have home before the holiday.

The end of the semester is finally here, though! This has been the toughest semester of my college career and I don’t know how I survived. But I did, and I have gained some great followers along the way.

This past week has been insane for me – between term papers and abstracts and finals and presentations. I am still on campus until the 19th studying my butt off for my one final. Given the fact that I haven’t even been sleeping, I don’t think I’ll have the chance to blog next week 😦

I started this blog back in September and had no idea it would result in this. I was able to discuss lots of different topics that were directly relevant to my life, and many others found my words useful.

I want to thank each and every one of you for following me and supporting me. All of my readers, whether they contribute or not, are important to me. Thank you thank you thank you!

I plan to be back after the holidays, but until then I would like to lead you to Ali Does It Herself. I have been following this all semester and absolutely love it. It’s full of DIY ideas which include recipes, gift ideas, and decorating tips. Also, check out TK. TK is another blog I have followed since the start and I have reblogged her a few times. TK writes posts about post-grad life and lifestyle posts. Right now, she is writing about victims of bullying and it is really powerful. I definitely suggest following these two if you are hungry for more content like mine. Read the rest of this entry »

Wait, I’m an Adult?!

Between classes the other day I decided to check my emails to see what was new. There were a bunch from Target, a few from WordPress, and oh… two LinkedIn messages. I read them. I wanted to cry.

The first one was pretty uplifting. It contained articles relative to my major and areas of interest. The first one was titled “Eight Reasons to Hire a Journalist in Your Marketing Department”. Cool! I have Journalism experience! Maybe people want to hire me…

The second one had local job openings.

Biggest Conflict of the Semester

I’m out of coffee.

I have one week left, and I’m out of coffee. Thousands of words left to write, and I’m out of coffee.

Maybe I’m being dramatic, but I don’t have time to run to the store and buy more. With a “to do” list longer than Santa’s, how can I squeeze in 20 minutes to run to the grocery store?

Holiday Decorating Ideas on the Cheap

I Wish I Were a Wizard

I don’t know if I’ve mentioned this yet in any of my blogs, but I am OBSESSED WITH HARRY POTTER. It’s literally my entire life. This morning I woke up and was really thirsty, so rather than go get some water I yelled “Aguamenti”. It didn’t work. I got really upset at myself for being a muggle.

Anyway. I was reading through some blogs today and I came across this. If you don’t want to read, basically the publishers are re-releasing the Harry Potter series in FULL COLOR. I am wicked excited. Check out the article for a sneak peak at some of the new illustrations. They are absolutely beautiful.

Ever Wake Up Questioning Your Sanity?

I am always interpreting my dreams using Dream Moods. My crazy dreams make me think I’m, well, crazy. Luckily I’m not alone and TK feels the same insanity after her vivid dreams.

Chocolate Peppermint Trifle

Remember that post about the 12 Days of Christmas workout? Well, let’s contradict that.

If you remember the post, you may remember the picture of the beautiful trifle I made. Today’s your lucky day, because I am sharing my recipe with you. It’s very simple to make and requires few ingredients. It’s fairly cheap to make, too, so it’s perfect for the college student budget. And it doesn’t take more than 20 minutes (plus the bake time for the brownies, so maybe an hour tops), so it fits in with your busy holiday schedule.

Yeah… this one

Trim the Tree, Trim the Fat

One of the biggest worries we have, and often ignore, during the holidays is how much weight we’ll gain. Thanksgiving is filled with all healthy foods (turkey, carrots, green beans, etc.), but Christmas is about the desserts. The main meal is never as important as the desserts as there are so many of them! It’s impossible to ignore that beautiful triffle, or the cookies with Santa’s face on them, and that delicious chocolaty thing OH MY! And we justify eating everything in sight (I do it too) because it’s the holidays and you only get to eat this stuff once a year. This isn’t a terribly bad thing, just don’t be shocked on December 26 when you’ve put on 15 pounds.

There is a way to avoid it though. Stay consistent while working out during the holidays. This will significantly reduce the holiday weight gain. Also, it justifies how many cookies you can eat 😉

This is my Christmas Triffle from last year. I’ll have to post the recipe…

Back to Focusing on Christmas

I have a pretty big list of people I have to buy for this Christmas and all of them are very hard to buy for. I was on Amazon the other day trying to figure out what to get everyone, and I decided to be a nice person and share my ideas via blog.

This post will give tips for men and women of different personalities and I’ll do my best not to exclude anyone. However I will not be giving tips about children’s gifts because they ask for what they want. Most adults have no idea what they want.

It’s the HolidayS!

So this topic is pretty important to me. TK said it best, but I’m going to try my hardest to stress the importance.

I see all too often people, especially on Facebook, sharing extreme right wing views (not to generalize, but these posts usually originate on “Tea Party” and “Conservative” Facebook pages) saying that people should stop saying Happy Holidays because this is America and we only celebrate Christmas.

Back up. Most of these people are the same people who complain that their freedom of speech is being imposed upon. The freedom of speech, the First Amendment. What else is in the First Amendment?

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”
